Job Summary

Experienced RN Periop Leader needed at the new Peninsula Outpatient Surgery Center in downtown Burlingame

In this key role, you will:

Manage and coordinate the staff and daily surgeries in our 4 ORs and 12 PACU beds

Coordinate the entire perioperative patient care delivery system for the new, state-of-the-art POPC

Foster teamwork, establish common goals and achieve successful quality outcomes and recognize staff for their success

Promote and facilitate educational and training needs

Ensure patient safety including NPSG, TJC and infection control standards

Create an exceptional environment for patients, staff and physicians

Key responsibilities include:

The Nurse Manager of the POPC will actively involve the Director, POPC surgeons, anesthesiologists, schedulers, EVS staff, SPD staff and the entire peri-operative team to concurrently and proactively manage patient flow.

Actively communicate and collaborate with internal, external partners of the POPC to provide overall OR efficiency.

Manage the team of RN’s, clinical staff, anesthesia technicians, environmental services staff (PSA), and Patient Care Assistants (PCA).

Manage surgical services in a cost-effective manner, consistent with the financial goals of the organization which will include meeting budgetary targets, productivity and inventory management.

Develop systems to ensure instrumentation and equipment is readily available for surgeries.

Continuously monitor services provided and collaborate with the team in developing methods to improve utilization and efficiency.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of OR experience, with 2 recent years of that in an outpatient surgery center

2+ years of progressive clinical leadership/management experience

Able to prioritize effectively according to departmental needs and ability to organize a large number of changing variables.

Strong communication, writing and inter-personal abilities, including skills such as attitude, diplomacy and persuasiveness, analytical ability, strong judgment and managerial skills.

Strong clinic / center patient care management skills. Practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and / or information technology. Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.

Strong leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and co

Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.

Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently.

Knowledge of current and emerging best practices and technologies in the clinic / center healthcare industry.

Preferred Qualifications

Periop experience in Orthopaedic

Master's Degree

License/Certification

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Registered Nurse in the State of California (RN)

American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS
