Job Summary
A part-time (5 hours/wk) temporary (Oct 1 2024-Feb 28 2024) research assistant position is available in the Department of Health Sciences/Nutrition Sciences Section reporting to Jennifer Nasser, PhD RD, Associate Professor. The position pays $20/hour and involves responsibility for conducting recruitment, phone screening, in-person consenting and anthropometric measurement characterization, and questionnaire administration to adult participants enrolling in a grant-funded, IRB approved nutrition intervention study. The Nutrition Sciences Section of the Health Sciences Department is composed of five tenured faculty, and three full time teaching faculty. It occupies ~400 square feet of research laboratory space in the Philadelphia Science Center at 3701 Market Street in Philadelphia, as well as ~80 square feet of research pantry space on the sixth floor of the Health Science Building and individual faculty offices located on the 11th floor of the Health Sciences Building.
Essential Functions
Copy and distribute recruitment flyers
Monitor research laboratory phone mail and email and contact individuals questing information on the study.
Conduct phone screening per an IRB approved script and checklist
Schedule participants for consenting and characterization visits
Perform anthropometric measurements, and administer questionnaires
Schedule participants for test visits
Assist student research team members and the PI (Dr Nasser) in other study duties as necessary
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Human Nutrition
1+ year of experience working in recruiting, screening, & in-person characterization of participants in nutrition-based intervention studies
Graduate training in clinical dietetics
Acceptance into an ACEND accredited dietetics internship

This is a part-time per diem position classified as non-exempt. The pay offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
