The Rail Load Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the railcar loading and unloading operations at a facility or terminal.

The role involves ensuring that all rail operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.

The Rail Load Lead will supervise a team, manage schedules, inspect equipment, and ensure that shipments are accurately documented.

Key Responsibilities: * Supervision & Coordination: * Lead and supervise a team of rail loaders/unloaders, ensuring proper delegation of tasks.

* Schedule and coordinate railcar loading/unloading activities to meet shipping deadlines.

* Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, warehouse, and maintenance, to ensure smooth operations.

* Safety & Compliance: * Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with safety protocols, industry regulations, and environmental standards.

* Conduct regular safety meetings and training for team members.

* Perform safety inspections on railcars, loading equipment, and track areas, addressing any hazards promptly.

* Maintain and enforce adherence to OSHA and other safety standards.

* Operational Efficiency: * Monitor railcar availability, track positioning, and loading/unloading progress to prevent delays.

* Optimize the loading process to reduce waste, minimize downtime, and ensure cost-effective operations.

* Maintain accurate records of loaded and unloaded railcars, product inventory, and any operational issues.

* Equipment & Maintenance: * Inspect railcar loading equipment (e.g., cranes, forklifts, hoses, etc.) for proper functionality.

* Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

* Report and track any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

* Communication & Reporting: * Liaise with rail service providers, shipping companies, and suppliers to ensure timely arrivals and departures of railcars.

* Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on rail operations, including production metrics, safety incidents, and delays.

* Provide updates to management regarding operational performance and improvements.

* Quality Control: * Ensure the proper loading and securing of products to prevent damage during transit.

* Conduct inspections of shipments for accuracy and quality, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may prefer a degree in logistics, transportation, or related field). * 3-5 years of experience in a rail loading/unloading or logistics environment, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

* Strong knowledge of railcar types, safety regulations, and loading procedures.

* Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using inventory/operations management software.

* Forklift certification and other relevant safety certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

* Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

* Must be able to climb railcars, ladders, and work at heights when necessary.
