Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mining Engineer to join our team in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area. In this full-time role, you will be a key player in developing efficient and sustainable mine plans, focusing on both open-pit and underground mining operations. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class mining engineering solutions, applying your expertise to ensure safety, productivity, and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Mine Planning: Develop comprehensive and strategic mine plans that optimize both open-pit and underground operations.

Design & Scheduling: Design innovative and cost-effective mining layouts and schedules that maximize operational efficiency and resource extraction.

Collaboration: Work closely with geologists, environmental specialists, and other engineers to deliver integrated and sustainable solutions.

Problem-Solving: Tackle operational challenges with creative, data-driven approaches, ensuring safe and profitable mining practices.

Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all mining activities comply with local regulations and best practices, providing clear, accurate reports to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

Mine Planning Expertise: Proven experience in developing detailed mine plans and schedules, with a focus on maximizing value.

Mining Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of mining engineering principles, including open-pit and underground mining methods.

Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in mine design software (e.g., Datamine, Deswik, MVP Scheduler, or similar tools).

Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mining Engineering or a related field is required.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
