Typical Day in the Role

Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is part of Microsoft Services, specifically within Industry Solutions Delivery. The team handles Operations, Delivery Excellence, and Sales Excellence. They are looking for someone to manage newsletter communication, SharePoint, and assist with people and culture initiatives.

Key projects: This individual will develop a comprehensive communications plan and editorial calendar serving both virtual and in-person audiences to drive global engagement and connection. The ideal candidate will be adept at taking abstract and/or complex issues and transforming them into powerful narratives that resonate with our global workforce. They will work cross functionally to identify and develop integrated communications, working in partnership with the broader Communications team, helping to scale the organizations employee culture and growth.

Candidate Requirements

Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.

Degrees or certifications required: A degree is a preference for this role.

Disqualifiers: Candidates with no Portfolio and writing samples besides JD skills will be rejected ( Samples of corporate communications from candidates to assess how they would handle such tasks. Demonstrate the candidate's ability to communicate corporate messages effectively.)

Best vs. Average: Need for detail orientation, organizational skills, and the ability to understand the organization and leader profiles for effective communication. These soft skills are considered bonuses for the candidate to have for their team.

Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work and ability to work independently.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience

1. Minimum 3+ years experience with Managing newsletter communication and SharePoint.

2. Minimum 3+ years experience with global teams and understanding of global communication agendas.

3. Minimum 5+years experience with Proficiency in corporate communications, with samples of corporate communications requested during interviews

Hard Skills Assessments

Expected Dates that Hard Skills Assessments will be scheduled: ASAP.

Hard Skills Assessment Process: The assessment process will include 1-2 rounds.

Required Candidate Preparation: Candidates should have Portfolio and writing samples prepared prior to the assessment.

Summary:

The main function of a Communications Specialist is to assist corporate communications with message development, writing, and editing.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring timely, creative and accurate dissemination of news, multimedia content and information

Create a variety of content for platforms, ensuring quality, accuracy and effective storytelling that aligns with corporate messaging

Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analyzing collected data.

Works closely with Client's Product corporate sales team to write and finalize monthly and annual press release.

Skills:

Verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time.

Basic knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.

Basic knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in marketing or equivalent training preferred.

5-7 years related experience required.
