UFG is currently hiring for a Claims Representative who will investigate, through correspondence or telephone, assigned auto property damage claims.â Occasionallyâ will make an on-scene inspection to take photos etc., if necessary. Examine policy forms to verify coverage, interview claimants or witnesses, obtain police or hospital reports, appraisals and all other information pertinent to the claim, analyze, evaluate, negotiate and settle claims.
Responsibilities:
Review new claims assignment to determine the nature and severity of the claim and intended action required.â
Manageâ and execute all claim functions such as maintaining proper claims documentation within claims management system,â reserving, claim payments, expense factors, and file notes.â
Make prompt, meaningful contact with insureds or claimants.â
Maintain proper communication channels with internal and external customers as defined by claims best practices.â
Conduct a timely and thorough investigation to identify risks/exposures which mayâ include:â conducting interviews, procuring recorded statements, relevant documents and identify others possessing facts or involvement with the claim – to determine extent and severity of potential loss.â
Evaluate, manage and/or recommend claim file reserves.â
Review and interpret policy to determine coverage.â â
Determine and communicate liabilityâ decisionâ with all relevant parties.â
Inform underwriting if increased hazards or unusual circumstances concerningâ a risk/policy exposure.â â
Disposition of claims through effectively negotiating and settling and/or denial.â â
Activelyâ identify subrogationâ potential and posture claim for successful subrogation.â â
Recognize and promptly address litigationâ potential,â work cohesively with defenseâ counsel,â andâ attend mediation and settlement conferences as needed.â â
Participate inâ continuingâ educational programs to develop and maintain knowledge of products,â procedures,â and industry trends.â
Process first and third party claims with clear liability and no injury.
Investigate and process non-complex claims.
Handle non-attorney represented claims.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma
2 or 4 year degree preferred
Certifications/Designations:
None required
Within 2 years of hire, must begin working toward AIC and other designations deemed appropriate by supervisor
Meet the appropriate state licensing laws required to handle “multi line” claims.
