Scientist, Genomics Assays (2 year contract)

We are seeking a motivated and meticulous Scientist to join the Translational Sciences Genomics team. The Scientist will conduct various unbiased and targeted genomics profiling assays to support early drug discovery projects within the company. In this role, the Scientist will have an opportunity to get hands-on experience with advanced genomics assays and work on projects across a spectrum of therapeutic areas.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in molecular biology and cell biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, RT-qPCR, and cell culture. In addition, the ideal candidate will be capable of multitasking projects and working across teams in a collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Nucleic acid extraction from various tissues/cells from human and non-human samples

Targeted gene expression or mutational profiling using RT-qPCR or other systems

Preparation and QC of libraries for single-cell RNA-seq and other NGS platforms

Assessment and development of novel genomics technologies, in particular NGS and related high-dimensional platforms

Support the team in lab operations, including lab and clinical sample inventory management, documentation for health and safety, and documentation of experiments in electronic notebooks

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline

Minimum of 2+ years of experience in industry or academia

Experience with molecular biology techniques, including RNA/DNA isolation, PCR, RT-qPCR, etc.

Experience with aseptic cell culture techniques

Preferred Experience

Experience with RNA/DNA QC platforms such as the Agilent Bioanalyzer or TapeStation

Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) principles, experimental design, and data interpretation

Experience with single-cell RNA-seq techniques and applications

Familiarity with scientific software such as GraphPad Prism, TIBCO Spotfire, BioTuring, etc.

Experience with lab and clinical sample inventory management
