How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Brake Press operator, you will collaborate with a team to meet on time delivery and exceed our customers satisfaction. You will operate a brake press to fabricate components from sheet metal or metal plates. This is a cross functional role that may operate fabricating machines, such as cutoff saws, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and punch machines, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheet, tubes, and structures.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

1. Safety

Follow all safety rules and adhere to core value of business

Maintain general work areas and/or equipment used in a clean and orderly condition

Ensure proper and effective operation of machine and tools throughout entire process. Report repairs and/or issues to team lead or supervisor

2. Delivery

Prepare, set-up, and adjust press brake per product plans to meet production schedules for on time delivery

Ensure sufficient raw materials are in inventory to complete work orders

Utilize small tools such as grinders to remove scratches, excess weld material and burrs

Perform light maintenance on equipment, machines, and other devices used in the normal course of work performed

Complete tasks as directed with minimum supervision

3. Quality

Confirm material, sizes, and parts match job tickets

Ensure all parts and surfaces are free from defects

Accurately document work performed per defined procedure

Self-monitor quality of own work, and report to lead or supervisor unusual, defective, or operating difficulties

Complete all tasks and work within designed quality guidelines

4. Culture

Desire to do the right thing

Team player, assisting other team members and departments as needed with other duties not routine to position

Punctual, on time, ready to work designated shift, every day

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

1-3 years previous experience with Press Brake Operations

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good attendance

Knowledge of various tooling

Mechanical aptitude

Self-driven, able to work independently, and as a team

Able to read/interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications

Strong attention to detail and quality, working within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy

Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Education & Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent
