As the Regulatory & Compliance & Risk Transformation Manager within the Retail Transformation team, you will be responsible for delivering a disciplined, robust and commercially feasible regulatory, legal risk and compliance advisory function to support the Retail Transformation Program, and ensuring that AGL’s future is secure by design, embedding regulatory and legal requirements at its core, whilst also supporting the business to innovate and challenge where it makes sense for our customers. You will also influence a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, providing expertise and advice to aid effective and informed decision making.

The Regulatory, Legal, Compliance & Risk Transformation team is accountable for supporting AGL’s Retail Transformation Program to transform the Customer Markets division of AGL and ensuring that this large program can deliver meaningful transformation at scale and pace whilst still aligning to AGL’s best practice regulatory compliance and risk framework for Customer Markets.

What you’ll be doing:

Providing exceptional leadership to guide, develop and support team members, embedding a culture which balances high performance with active engagement and personal and professional development of team members.

Providing relevant, strategic and actionable regulatory and compliance advice and support to the Retail Transformation Program and an intricate understanding of retail licences/authorisations and exemptions, and jurisdictional retail energy regulations, as well as a clear understanding of the role of the market operator and how reconciliations are completed within the energy market.

Providing regulatory reporting to meet AGL’s external regulatory reporting obligations where appropriate within the Retail Transformation Program, as well as associated internal management reporting for executive/senior management on relevant matters.

Supporting responses to regulator investigations and requests for information (primarily from the Australian Energy Regulator and Essential Services Commission of Victoria), where they are relevant to the Retail Transformation Program and AGL’s migration to new any new systems, coordinating multiple cross-functional stakeholders to meet mandatory deadlines.

Providing detailed knowledge of transformation programs across the energy industry and ensuring that learnings from other transformation programs are embedded into AGL’s approach and program risk management strategies, as well as proactively collaborating with the broader Customer Markets leadership group, and all key stakeholders to ensure alignment with and delivery of Customer Markets objectives.

What you’ll bring:

Experience in energy regulatory and/or compliance management in a large organisation within a complex regulatory environment is essential and qualifications/accredit in law will be highly regarded.

Demonstrated experience in leading teams of professionals and inspiring high levels of employee engagement and partnering with the business to achieve regulatory compliance and robust risk outcomes.

Ability to lead business change in response to changes in the regulatory environment and/or changes to compliance obligations and/or exposures and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Proactively identify and propose practical, efficient and effective solutions to new problems, and the ability to challenge the status quo and propose novel solutions to old problems.

Commercial and strategic attitude toward ensuring regulatory compliance with the business, using insights and data to drive continuous improvement, and prove ability to present to senior management on a variety of risk and compliance matters.
