Summary

This position is located in Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Federal Facilities Division, Alterations Work Group (AWG). This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment in Federal industrial, institutional, and office buildings int he National Capital Region.

You may qualify at the WL 10 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the WL 09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and/or loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures; 2) providing training using knowledge in electrical trade in the method of working from blueprints, schematics, technical guides, diagrams and specifications, shop sketches, job orders, and engineering instructions; 3) facilitating hands-on practice to setup, adjust and operate a variety of power tools and equipment, and to use various hand tools and measuring instruments; 4) inspecting items and systems to determine amount of rework, materials, methods and machines needed; and/or 5) spot checking completed work for accuracy to ensure quality standards are met.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
