In accordance with the VGCC organizational chart, the Instructor for Mechatronics Engineering Technology reports to the Program Head. The primary purpose of this position is to teach courses in the program.

This position is assigned to the VGCC South Campus, although some travel to other counties in the college’s service area is possible. Consistent with VGCC’s Teleworking Policy, this position is eligible for up to 16 hours per week of telework after the first 9 months of employment upon your supervisor’s approval.

Essential Duties

Teaching assigned classes

Assessing student learning outcomes

Recommending improvements to courses/program

Maintaining suitable class records and attendance

Recommending books and other instructional supplies

Maintaining appropriate course documents such as syllabi, objectives, tests, lesson plans and the Learning Management System for the class.

Advise students

Performing maintenance on instruction equipment

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

Candidates for this position are required to have a minimum of an Associate Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field and

Two years of industry experience with automation, manufacturing, robotics, instrumentation, process control, and electromechanical systems.Education and Experience Preferred:

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor degree or higher in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Additional preference will be given to those candidates with experience in PLC programming and drafting software.

Physical Demands

Light work that includes moving objects up to 30 pounds.

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Laboratory set-up and take-down for in person labs
