Senior Backend Software Engineer

Dusty Robotics is the leading solution to ensure design integrity in the field through automated layout and a streamlined BIM-to-field process. Dusty delivers a combination of hardware, software, and services that fit seamlessly into existing construction work processes by printing digital models directly on the jobsite floor with 1/16" accuracy based directly on Revit or AutoCAD models. Dusty has enabled contractors to print over 100 million square feet of layout across thousands of buildings and is trusted by leading general contractors such as DPR and Skanska as well as trade contractors in framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

What You'll Do:

Dusty is seeking an experienced cloud software engineer to play a guiding role in the development of cloud services and web applications for our automated BIM-to-field solution, the FieldPrint Platform. This SaaS platform helps construction firms organize the information sent to our FieldPrinter robot, and creates additional opportunities for construction automation. You’ll join our web team as a senior member contributing your expertise to technical design and implementation of the cloud services underlying the platform.

We are looking for engineers who are creative and aspirational in what they build, who seek out novel technical capabilities to expand the realm of what’s possible in generating delightful and intuitive user experiences. We are building products that have never existed before in the construction industry, so we need to bring all our creative thinking to bear on their design and function to help the industry adopt them and become more efficient.

Dusty’s headquarters in Mountain View. We are an office-centric company enjoying the efficiency and camaraderie of in-person collaboration. We prefer an in office candidate but are open to hybrid and remote roles.

Who You Are:

You have 10+ years experience building highly responsive web applications

You are bored by simply slapping a rest interface on an open source library, you want to create elegant solutions to complex problems

You have been the key contributor on a startup-scale enterprise SaaS product with a track record of success

On a routine basis have you analyzed, designed, implemented tested and deployed features

You collaborate with other engineers to make sure your solutions are flexible, extendable, testable and re-usable

You obviously are experienced in cloud development. Our backend runs on Go. If you don’t speak it yet, you are a confident fast learner

You are proficient in async web apps, HTTP/Websockets, API design, persistence, analytics and cloud deployment

You have an innovative mindset: continuously seeking new technologies, tools and techniques to achieve simplicity and delight in web application design

Your communication skills are excellent. You are able to explain technical concepts simply and clearly

Your Bachelor’s or higher degree is in Computer Science or a related field

You have an appreciation for 2d and 3d CAD data, robot telemetry data, resources scheduling problems.

You enjoy seeing your work in the hands of customers

Where You'll Work:

Dusty’s offices are located in Mountain View, CA. You will be primarily working from our office in this role to facilitate rapid coordination with executive leadership and business teams. You can also expect to travel a small amount to customer locations around the US.
