The IT and Digital Health Officer is responsible for overseeing the IT infrastructure and client systems, providing end-user support, and facilitating digital health programs at the Jhpiego Botswana office. This multifaceted role demands a service-oriented and organized individual who can effectively interact with a diverse range of end-users and technical staff. The officer must prioritize tasks efficiently and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure seamless operations and support across all platforms.

Responsibilities

Network & Server administration.

Provide support on LAN/WLAN/WAN/VPN, telephone, or VoIP.

Troubleshoot system and network failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long-term efficiency.

Test and configure software, maintain, and repair hardware and peripheral devices.

Organize and schedule upgrades and system maintenance.

Manage project data backup and IT disaster recovery plans.

Digital Health Program Technology.

Implement and manage digital health tools and applications.

Support the integration of health technology solutions in program activities.

Ensure the alignment of digital health initiatives with IT infrastructure.

Collaborate with health program teams to define technology needs and solutions.

User and Client System Support

Provide technical and programmatic support to end-users on computer, network usage, and digital health applications.

Maintain system and configuration change documentation.

Compliance & Training

Ensure user compliance with Global IT policies, Procedures, and digital health privacy standards.

Provide training to staff on both IT and digital health systems and applications.

Prepare, document, and communicate system status reports with the Global IT team.

Participate in Global IT Scheduled projects and Scheduled activities.

Administration

Ensure user compliance with IT policies and digital health privacy standards.

Provide training to staff on both IT and digital health systems and applications.

Other duties as necessary and as assigned.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field.

Certifications in ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ or CCNA.

Proven experience in IT management and support.

Experience in managing and implementing digital health programs or tools including GIS, Artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Minimum of five years of experience in a similar IT role.

Proficient knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, and various network technologies.

Extensive experience with the hardware and software of desktops, laptops, and mobile devices including support for Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.

Developed troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, make decisions on IT improvements, and effectively document system configurations.

Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and working under pressure.

Excellent team-working capabilities, proactive attitude, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical ability to handle IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with healthcare IT systems and digital health applications.

Knowledge of data privacy practices in health technology.

Proficiency in managing Windows Server technologies.

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and technologies
