WBNS 10TV is looking for a Senior Assignment and Digital Editor to manage and create content for our TV, website, mobile and social media platforms. This role will help the assignment manager oversee the assignment desk and contribute as a digital producer, so the ideal candidate would have a passion for breaking news and creating content.

Duties include but are not limited to: Writing news stories, gathering information delivering content on digital platforms, answering phones, listening to police scanners, bringing in live shots from various sources, and live streaming. The position is responsible for assigning and dispatching crews, assisting crews with contacts and research, and publishing original content to the website.

Must be a strong writer and copy editor with excellent editorial judgment, time management, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize quickly.

Responsibilities:

Discover and produce unique, local, and engaging content

React quickly to breaking news and communicate plan to staff

Monitor a variety of public safety radio systems and UGC for breaking news

Assist with story planning, including identifying big stories and coverage opportunities

Provide editorial guidance and manage logistics to execute daily newsroom content

Use multiple social media platforms to identify stories.

Search and locate criminal and civil document systems to be distributed to news and digital producers

Perform basic digital producing during a major breaking news event

Maintain knowledge on specific political, business, and other high-profile people in the Northwest

Understand audience insights and metrics, apply to content planning and execution

Collaborate with other TEGNA stations, NBC, affiliates, and Foreign partners (Global TV) to search trending content and publish compelling stories, photos, and video from our corporate network across web, mobile and social media platforms

Requirements:

BA/BS degree preferred

2+ year TV industry or related experience

Experience with writing using AP style is preferred.

Ability to work a variety of shifts as needed

Sound news judgment while meeting daily deadlines

Strong written and verbal communications

A key collaborator that can infuse teamwork and motivate colleagues

Curiosity and a willingness to learn about the market
